From sketch to finished piece: inside the studio
The four rooms a printed piece passes through in our Doha studio: the showroom, design and engineering, the print farm and the finishing hall.

A printed piece passes through four rooms of the studio before it leaves, and every project starts at the same door.
The showroom

This is where an idea is brought in, and where finished pieces wait on the shelves for the people who asked for them.
Design and engineering

Here the idea becomes a drawing and a model, and it is agreed before anything is made. A change is easiest now, before a single layer exists.
The print farm

Rows of printers print the piece layer by layer, whether it is one personalised piece or a run of corporate gifts.
The finishing hall

A print leaves the printer with its layers still showing. In the finishing hall it is filled, sanded, primed and painted by hand, until it looks like the thing that was drawn. Our note on finishing a 3D print goes through each step.
From the first sketch to the finished piece, under one roof.
