Engineering display
3D Engineering DNA
An artistic and engineering prototype: a classic double helix built of pipes, columns, rungs and intermeshing gears, 195 mm tall with its solid circular base.

How it was made, hour by hour

What was asked
A conceptual engineering display and desktop sculpture: the biological double helix joined with industrial engineering — interwoven pipes, support columns, structural rungs and gears of many sizes meshing through the whole helix.
- 02
How it was made
Modelled in 3D over 18 hours and made by a hybrid process: the intricate DNA spire printed in grey photopolymer resin (SLA / MSLA) in 9 hours, the base by FDM in dark PETG in one; then its supports removed, the resin washed and cured under UV, and its surface finished.
- 03
What was handed over
Fine geometric detail on a stable foundation that carries the helix's overhangs and tall profile, in a two-tone finish: a grey metallic and matte structure on a dark base.
